We pride ourselves on our professionalism as American Canoe Association and American Red Cross certified instructors. We also belong to the Trade Association of Paddle Sports. "Serious stuff, " but of course that doesn't mean we don't like a good time! Our classes adhere to the important principle that, "learning should be a fun adventure with controlled challenges." Unless otherwise stated, participants 14 through senior adult in good physical condition are welcome. Please call about kids' classes. You also need to bring the same items as listed under our Guided Tours section. We provide all the sea kayaking equipment you need: boat, paddle, life jacket and other safety accessories. Wet suits are provides for those classes requiring them.
Beginners Welcome! - NO sea kayaking experience; but looking for adventure.
Experienced Beginners - You're getting hooked. You've probably had an introductory paddling class and been on a couple of tours of 6 plus miles.
Intermediate - Good basic strokes, you've completed several day long paddles and maybe even a short overnight or two. Proficient at assisted rescue, you've discovered that wet doesn't bother you, you like it.
Advanced - You're ready for the mix-master rock garden and surf zones with effective bracing and recovery strokes. Solo rescues are part of your bag of tricks.
We provide all the sea kayaking equipment you need: boat, paddle, life jacket and other safety accessories.
Classes require 3 or more people to register along with a deposit. We will accept cancellations with at least a 2-day notice.
First Strokes: Quick-Start
Our beginner's gentle introduction to sea kayaking. In this three-hour session
you will experience a serenity and closeness to nature as you skim atop protected,
picturesque waters. Learn kayaking basics, including boat choices, equipment,
clothing, shore rescue demo and how to paddle: forward, back, turning, and side
strokes.
Skill: Beginners Welcome! / 3 Hours

Second Strokes: Bracing and Rescues
Build great confidence in your abilities as we show you how to re-enter your
kayak after a capsize: you will get wet! It includes the demonstration and practice
of wet exits, assisted rescues, self-rescues, and the bracing strokes and techniques
designed to prevent unplanned wet exits.
Skill: First Strokes or suitable experience. Must be comfortable submerged
/ 3 Hours

Third Strokes: Twist & Turn Paddling
Techniques
We will push your limits to make you a better, more accomplished paddler. You'll get polished "torsional", and effective paddling techniques,
learn new strokes and work on rhythm, cadence and endurance. Practice lean turns, hip snaps and high
and low braces, so you'll feel ready in moderate seas and "bumpy" conditions.

Splash & Stroke: Fundamentals of Sea
Kayaking
This is a full two-day American Canoe Association sanctioned course designed
to jump-start you into the adventure of sea kayaking. A lively, dynamic program
with controlled challenges, you will build a foundation of solid skills needed
to enjoy sea kayaking: proper paddling strokes, effective rescues, practical
navigation, safety and awareness of sea and weather conditions.
Skill: Beginners Welcome! to Experienced Beginners. Must be comfortable
submerged / 2 Days

Cost: $225 - Reservations Required.
Eskimo Rolling
Right-side down, wrong-side up! Looks impossible, but with practiced technique
(not thrashing muscle moves) you too can master the best no-fuss, no-muss recovery
we know.
Skill: Intermediate to Advanced / 2.5 Hours

Navigation, Wind and Water
Learn the practical techniques of navigation in combination with an understanding
of the elements that make travel "interesting". This includes gaining a basic
knowledge of tides and currents.
Skill: Experienced Beginner to Intermediate / 2 Hours

Private Lessons
Want to learn a skill, brush-up technique, or improve overall stroke efficiency-sign
on for a private lesson where we can tailor the program to you. 2 hours minimum
required. Maximum of three people per private (We want to keep it private!).
You may use your own kayak or rent on of ours.
